TWIN GABLES INN

TWIN GABLES INN - is located across the street from Lake Kalamazoo which meanders into nearby Lake Michigan. This popular year-round destination is hailed as the Art Coast of Michigan and has been designated both a Cool City and a Beach Town is home to many critically acclaimed artists. Midwest Living has named Saugatuck one of the best Weekend Destinations in the Midwest.

Visitors have likened Saugatuck to quaint fishing villages on the East coast. We have exquisite and unique shops to please the most discriminating shoppers, both casual and fine dining, home to Oval Beach, a top five nationally recognized beach, the wonder and glory of Lake Michigan are at our back door and bring the activities of “the big Lake”: charter fishing, boating adventures, sailing, sailing lessons, jet ski rental, and boat rentals. For those who are continuously thinking of their handicaps, there are three golf courses (one an Arnold Palmer designed) within a three mile radius of the Inn. Reach just a little farther and you can include two other excellent golf courses, horseback riding, hiking (Saugatuck Dunes State Park), in the winter cross-country skiing, ice skating, Play a round of tennis on well-kept courts. Our vibrant Center for the Arts host many talented performers year round. Our Farmers Market attracts local farmers and their bountiful offering from May through October. There are many activities in this area, but most people arrive here to escape their daily routine and relax.

Long known as the B&B Capital of the Midwest Saugatuck’s bustling city center is located just 4 blocks from the Inn. The gateway to Saugatuck (by the famous painter’s pallet neon sign) is Twin Gables Inn, which welcomes all Chicago visitors. The visibility of the Inn is an asset as it attracts many “walk-in guests”.

This original 1865 lumber mill has also been used as a brewery ice house, tannery and a 1920's hotel and restaurant. It was restored to a bed and breakfast in 1982. “The grand old lady” was given a facelift in 1999. All the rooms have been re-worked from the walls out to give the Inn a fresh and vibrant new look.

The 10,000+ sq. ft., historic Inn has 15 guestrooms, all with private baths, 3 private guest cottages, 2 bedroom innkeepers’ quarters (main floor), 2.5 car garage all located on 1.5 nicely landscaped, rolling acres. Site amenities include off street paved parking, spacious, comfortable common areas, beautiful year-round front porch, and central air conditioning, a 7-person hot tub on the lower level, a seasonal outdoor heated pool and a large brick patio for lounging and sunning.

The Twin Gables Inn unique features include original maple floors, embossed ceiling, spacious, new commercial kitchen and a large wood-burning fireplace. Each of the 15 guestrooms is tastefully decorated and each room is named for a different wine. Six guestrooms have king-size beds (three are suited-sized rooms), 8 have queen-size bedsand (our smallest room) has full-size bed. These rooms range in size from 115 to 300 square feet and range in price from $86 to $266. Five of the rooms have a gas fireplace & the loft suite features a jetted-whirlpool tub. 10 of the B&B rooms have been completely redecorated within the past 5 years.

Three separate quaint cottages each afford a different B&B experience. The Napa Valley Cottage and the Sonoma Valley Cottage have 2 bedrooms, central air, gas fireplace, TV/DVD/CD player with cable, and a fully equipped kitchen. The Loire Valley Cottage has the same features except only 1 bedroom.

The owners are open to offering a $700K second mortgage, 7%, interest only with a 7 yr. balloon, to qualified buyers with a minimum of a $250K down payment. This quaint Saugatuck inn is being offered at $2.9M which includes most of the tasteful furnishings. #SW61
